Joe Biden wins the 2020 US election: celebrities react

TO UPDATE: The electoral college cast its votes and officially elected Joe Biden as the 46th President of the United States.

According to NBC News, all 538 voters met in their respective states on Monday, December 14th to cast their votes for president, based on election results recently confirmed by all 50 states. The votes showed that Biden had reached the 270 threshold to win.

The president-elect is expected to address the nation around 7:30 p.m. ET on Monday.


America voted Joe Biden to be the 46th President of the United States.

NBC News predicted the former vice president won the 2020 election and defeated the incumbent president on Saturday, Nov. 7 Donald Trumpwith 279 votes. Biden is attended to by Vice President Elect Kamala Harriswho will make history as the first female and first female vice president for Black and South Asian America.

“America, I am honored that you chose me to lead our great country,” tweeted Biden. “The work ahead of us will be tough, but I promise you this: I will be president for all Americans – whether you voted for me or not. I will keep the confidence you have shown in me.”

Harris tweeted, “This election is about so much more than @JoeBiden or me. It’s about the soul of America and our willingness to fight for it. We have a lot of work to do. Let’s get started.”
