Amanda Shires Covers Genesis “That is All”: Pay attention

Singer-songwriter Amanda Shires unveiled a Genesis classic at the end of 2020. Check out Shires’ rendition of “That’s All” from the group’s 1983 self-titled LP below (via Rolling Stone).

Shires called the title a “real COVID anthem” in a press release. Her cover is accompanied by an animated image depicting a range of events in the disastrous 2020, including a COVID-19 molecule, a mural of musicians who died that year (with Little Richard and John Prine, among others), and a literal dumpster fire.

In October, Amanda Shires co-starred with Jason Isbell as John Prine’s Storm Windows as part of the homage to the late legend of the Grammys Lifetime Achievement Awards. The following month, both artists returned their lifetime membership cards to the Country Music Association when they failed to honor Prine at their 2020 awards ceremony.

Last year Shires founded the highwomen with Brandi Carlile, Maren Morris and Natalie Hemby. They made their self-titled debut later that year.
