Chris Pine hopes to be a part of Tarantino’s Star Trek however has no concept what is going on

While William Shatner will forever be the actor most associated with the role of Captain James T. Kirk in Star Trek, Chris Pine did an excellent job of filling Shatner’s shoes as the younger Kirk in the 2009 Star Trek film. The Star Trek film franchise has long been suspended, but several filmmakers have shown interest in giving a film in the franchise their own spin. In an interview, Pine expressed an interest in making the next Star Trek film with Quentin Tarantino.

“You know I haven’t [read a script]. Regarding Star Trek, I really wish I knew something. I am literally one of the last to ever find out. So, I haven’t read this script, I don’t know where it’s in development, I haven’t read the Noah Hawley script, I have no idea what’s going on in Star Trek land. But I love the character, I love the universe, I love my friends in it, you know it would be incredibly interesting and fun for Quentin to take over. You know, look whatever happens if I come back or not, it’s a great universe, it deserves a future, and I hope it does. ”

There are many memorable characters associated with Star Trek, but the main duo of Kirk and Spock defined the franchise for most fans. Revenent screenwriter Mark L. Smith was selected to develop Tarantino’s Star Trek script while the project was still in progress. Smith confirmed during an interview that Tarantino intended to allow Kirk to be the focus of the narrative.

“I love Picard. And Kirk is always so fun. Tarantino and I had so much fun with him because Kirk is just William Shatner, you know? It’s like, you’re not sure who is who, so you kind of can lean in because you’re watching Chris Pine and he plays Kirk, but he also plays William Shatner. ”

Unfortunately, a film showing Tarantino’s take on Star Trek doesn’t seem to be shot anytime soon as the franchise expands in other directions. If the project should ever be restarted, Quentin Tarantino I would certainly be delighted to have the chance to work with Pine in the role of Kirk as the filmmaker has freely expressed his love for the actor in the past.

“I think one of the things that is exciting [2010’s Unstoppable] I’m a huge Chris Pine fan, “said Tarantino.” Well, for me, of the actors of his age, he’s undoubtedly my favorite – from this group, from this era, from these guys. Hands down my favorite. When I saw him as Captain Kirk in the Star Trek movie, I thought he was going to do that movie. I mean, I’m all on board. And then it was so exciting to see him on “Unstoppable” to get the Tony Scott treatment. He needed this to make him a movie star in my eyes. He filmed like a movie star and he looks like it. He soaks these colors, this lighting, these costumes. He asserts himself completely against Denzel [Washington]. That’s what it took to make himself a movie star. ”
