David Guetta takes again his first place within the prime 100 of DJ Magazine after 9 years
In one of the most unique DJ Mag Top 100 lists of all time David Guetta has regained its top spot on the list for the first time since 2011.
Guetta is launching its Jack Back alias this year and doing numerous live-stream shows that will be watched by over 50 million people during the lockdown. He jumps over Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike and Martin Garrix and is number one on the list this year.
He helped raise over $ 1.5 million for COVID-19 relief efforts through his United At Home live-stream events. He also headlined Tomorrowland’s Around the World digital festival in July and posted record breaking results during DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJs Virtual Festival series.
“Thank you to everyone who voted for me,” said Guetta. “To think it’s 40 years since I first played for a club and 10 years since I last won that award makes me very emotional. When I first won 9 years ago, I got a lot of hatred for merging dance music with mainstream and pop. When I look back now and see how she shaped and developed the industry, that’s absolutely crazy. Winning now after going back to what I originally did and releasing more underground music with my friend MORTEN and Future Rave as well as Jack Back makes it even more special. I owe my fans everything and whatever the future holds, I’ll be there, ready to set the party to music, and I hope you will too. “
