Ghostbusters: After Death Grain will now release ectoplasmic marshmallows in stores
A new Ghostbusters: Afterlife Grain made by General Mills appears on store shelves in the United States. Alone the box with the official Ghostbusters branding on a black background and the appearance of the Stay Puft Mini-Pufts is a work of art. The grain consists of red spherical corn on the cob with blue and white ghost-shaped marshmallows. Let’s just hope it’s as tasty as it looks.
According to the press release, the Ghostbusters Muesli “is inspired by the upcoming film release, which is a sequel to the iconic ’80s movie that premiered later this year. In anticipation of the sequel, enjoy fruity-sweetened corn puffs with spooky and ectoplasmic marshmallows. Who are you going to call ?! Ghostbusters! “
More bound groceries and collectibles that coincide with this year’s release of Ghostbusters: Afterlife are also on the way. Blue slime-filled twinkies are also slated to hit shelves this year, but it’s not clear when these will arrive. Also unveiled earlier this month was a new Toyline for Afterlife from Hasbro, which features a range of collectible mini pufts available in a variety of mischievous poses.
Ghostbusters: Afterlife is staged by Jason Reitman, son of the original Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters II helper Ivan Reitman. The screenplay was co-written by Jason and Gil Kenan, along with the story, which takes place in the same universe as the first two films. Over three decades later, the story tells of a family who moves to a farm inherited from a deceased relative to discover their connection to the legendary Ghostbusters team.
The cast of the new film will be led by Carrie Coon, McKenna Grace, Finn Wolfhard and Logan Kim. Paul Rudd also plays a role as a teacher obsessed with the original Ghostbusters. As a direct sequel, the film will also bring back many fan favorites from the first two films, including Bill Murray as Peter Venkman, Dan Aykroyd as Ray Stantz, Ernie Hudson as Winston Zeddemore, Annie Potts as Janine Melnitz and Sigourney Weaver as Dana Barrett. The characters will also pay tribute to Egon Spengler, played by the late Harold Ramis.
“It really feels like the first, more than the second, or the girl,” Murray said in an interview with Collider about Afterlife. “It has a different feeling than two out of four. I think he really has something. It was difficult. It was really difficult. So I think it will be good … It will be worth watching.”
Ghostbusters: Afterlife is slated to hit theaters on November 11, 2021. That release date followed several delays with the long-awaited sequel, which originally premiered last summer. Given the returning stars and fan excitement surrounding the upcoming film, it is likely to be a huge box office hit.
The new Ghostbusters cereal is slated to be available in U.S. stores for a limited time in early to mid-April, and some fans have started seeing them pop into the cereal ships. Boxes come in both family and medium sizes. This information comes from Ghostbusters News.
