Hazard! Opening with Alex Trebek Tribute: “Thanks for all the things”

Danger! pays tribute to the man who asked us the same question for every answer: the late, great Alex Trebek.

The episode of the syndicated game show began on Monday with an on-air message from executive producer Mike Richards of the death of Trebek, who passed away this weekend at the age of 80 of pancreatic cancer. Richards clearly holds back tears when he speaks of the impact Trebek had: “This is an enormous loss for our employees and crew, for his family and for his millions of fans.” Trebek loved the show so much, Richards says, that “he recorded its last episodes less than two weeks ago”. (Episodes with Trebek will air until December 25th.)

“He will forever be an inspiration for his constant need to learn, his kindness and his love for his family,” says Richards, adding that Trebek’s last 35 episodes are aired the way they were shot: “He wanted to.” Richards speaks on behalf of all danger! Family, when he says, “Thanks for everything, Alex” before saying those three familiar words in a new, somber tone: “That … is a danger.”
