Jeannie Mai was hospitalized and compelled to cease dancing with the celebs
TO UPDATE:: Jeannie Mai is on the way to recovery from surgery for a “potentially life-threatening” health problem.
The star shared a photo from the hospital via Instagram on Nov. 2 with the caption, “I would never imagine ever writing this, but I made it safely out of my emergency surgery. I will forever be grateful to Dr. Nasseri who identified my possibly life-threatening condition. What started out simply as a sore throat was unknown to me and became a dangerous infection that closed at least 60% of my airways and resulted in a throat abscess that spread within 3 days. “

Jeannie Mai puts her health first as her journey to Dancing With the Stars comes to an end.
The 41-year-old co-host of The Real, who appeared on season 29 of the dance series, was hospitalized for an inflammatory condition called epiglottitis. “My doctors have discovered a health problem with my throat that requires immediate attention and surgery,” Mai said in a statement to Good Morning America on Monday November 2nd. “I’m broken that my DWTS trip has to end here.”
She added, “I have reached new limits physically and mentally and I am so proud of how far we have come.”
Mai who worked with DWTS Pro Brandon Armstrongalso says E! News “sad” her that she will not be able to continue with the competition. “The past few weeks have been an amazing learning experience,” she said. “I’ve pushed myself to new limits physically and mentally and I’m so proud of how far we’ve come. I can’t thank my partner Brandon enough for supporting me and believing in me so much. I want the MAI fans too thank you who voted every week and I wish everyone else good luck in the competition! “
