The much anticipated third season of Cobra Kai stands in front of the door and with him a couple of familiar faces from Daniel-san’s past come. The pick among them is Karate Kid 2 villain Chozen, with actor Yuji Okumoto re-playing the role and recently teasing what fans can expect from the long-awaited reunion.

“Chozen went through a lot of soul searching after losing his fight with Daniel. I think he saw the light and – that’s just my opinion – I think of the dedication he has in returning to the martial arts for I think he started to understand what the real meaning of martial arts is and what the real meaning of honor is. I think when people see the ending scene between Chozen and Daniel they’ll be happy with it. And who knows, beyond that. I’m sort of the last Miyagi-Do connection for Daniel’s character. There’s always this opportunity for them to move on. I hope. ”

The last time Daniel LaRusso and Chozen faced each other, it was a literal fight to the death in 1986. “It’s like reuniting with an old friend – not that we’re old, mind you. [Laughs] The thing I love about working with someone like Ralph is that he is a professional. He doesn’t complain about things, he just does the work. I can’t say enough about how lucky I was to be put on the show and reunited with him. When we initially [reunited] It was by phone call and he wanted the two of us to come together to rehearse the fight scene together. Since we probably had four major fight scenes in this episode, he wanted to take me to Atlanta about a week early to rehearse the fights – which is a blessing at my age. We got the chance to meet and rehearse and then discuss the story while we kick each other’s asses. ”

Set 34 years after the first Karate Kid film, Cobra Kai re-examines the narrative from Daniel’s point of view, Johnny Lawrence’s point of view.
