Legacies Season 3: Premiere Date, Spoilers, Casting, and Extra
Legacies Season 2 ended with an accidental cliffhanger, but we’ll be getting back to Mystic Falls sooner than you think. Season 3 is just around the corner and from what we know so far, it could be the best season yet! There are still a lot of unknown elements when it comes to Legacies Season 3, but TV Guide managed to come up with a few clues as to what is in store for the new season. Check out all of the casting info, spoilers, and premiere dates we know so far to keep up to date with the new season.
It will premiere in January 2021. Following the world premiere of Jared Padalecki’s new series Walker, Legacies will return for season three on Thursday, January 21st at 9 / 8c.
Production is running again. Production of the third season of Legacies resumed in mid-October, which is the expected premiere date of The CW in 2021. The show’s social media reports posted photos of actors back on set wearing masks and remaining socially distant between takes.

There are still several storylines up in the air. The fate of Hope (Danielle Rose Russell) and Landon (Aria Shahghasemi) remained in the balance as season 2 ended after episode 16. Hope became entangled in a sleep spell after being turned to stone in Josie’s (Kaylee Bryant) mindscape, while Landon was stabbed to death with the golden arrow and, as expected, never rose again – meaning he could really be dead. There was also the small thing that the necromancer (Ben Geurens) Josie stole all that dark magic. Wherever he is, he’s about as strong as never before, which can’t be a good thing for the super team.
The musical episode is still running. We all loved the musical episode of season two, which executive producer Brett Matthews said was intended to pay homage to The Vampire Diaries and The Originals. Unfortunately, that musical was scheduled to take place on the 19th episode of Season 2 and production was suspended before the episode could be shot. Fortunately, showrunner Julie Plec seems determined to film this episode as she tweeted, “If we don’t finish and air the musical episode at some point, I’ll (metaphorically, not literally) die. I think we’ll be fine. “
When production resumed in Season 3, Plec tweeted another tease for the musical episode, writing, “Congratulations to @cwlegacies and @CWRoswellNM for starting filming their 3rd season. I can’t believe we’re finally finished are able to continue our stories. ” – and I can’t wait for you all to see the Salvater: the musical episode. “
Congratulations to @cwlegacies and @CWRoswellNM for starting filming their 3rd season. I can’t believe we’re finally able to continue our stories – and I can’t wait for you all to see SALVATORE: THE MUSIC EPISODE.

Klaus Mikaelson (Joseph Morgan) will not be shown. Although we’ve raised hopes (pun entirely intended) that one day we’ll see Hope’s late father show up on legacies – whether via the therapy crystal, a flashback, or even as an actual ghost – it seems like we should delete them permanently from our wish list Joseph Morgan recently told TV Guide that we will never see Klaus on his daughter’s spin-off streak because it would feel forced, and in his eyes that story is over. We just have to hold on for Caroline (Candice King) instead!
We’ll see more of Jed (Ben Levin) and Ethan (Leo Howard). While we didn’t see many of them in Season 2, Jed, a werewolf at Salvatore School, and Ethan, a person who goes to Mystic Falls High School, will be a lot more with them in Season 3. Deadline reports that both Leo Howard and Ben Levin have been added to serial regulars in the coming season.
Legacies seasons 1 and 2 can be streamed on Netflix.
