Marvel’s Moon Knight Sequence for Disney +: Every little thing to Know
Just when it looked like Marvel’s all-star lineup couldn’t get any better, it was revealed that Oscar Isaac could be the next big name to lead a Marvel series: the upcoming Disney + show Moon Knight. Among the other shows coming to Disney + as part of the fourth phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Moon Knight is a lesser-known name than such as Ms. Marvel and She-Hulk. Here’s what you need to know about the character, his powers, and the show.
Oscar Isaac circles the main character. Isaac is in talks to play as Moon Knight on Marvel’s upcoming Disney + show of the same name, Deadline reports. Marvel had no comment on the possible casting, but Isaac is no stranger to the Disney universe having previously appeared as Poe Dameron in the latest Star Wars trilogy.
The character’s backstory is fun. Moon Knight was created by Doug Moench and Don Perlin and first appeared at night in Werewolf in 1975. He has since teamed up with the Avengers, Secret Avengers, and the X-Men, including She-Hulk. If the MCU doesn’t go back and completely rewrite its genesis, Moon Knight will revolve around Marc Spector, a former boxer who becomes a Marine and later a mercenary. After studying the Egyptian gods (it’s a long story!), He offers the opportunity to redeem himself by becoming an avatar of God on earth. He calls himself “The Fist of Khonshu”, whereby Khonshu is the ancient Egyptian moon god. He also has multiple alter egos and is often compared to DC Comics’ Batman.

The character has vague powers. He has soldier skills thanks to his military training, but when it comes to being a superhero, these are a little murky. He has a high tolerance for pain and, depending on the situation, his diverse personalities help or hinder him in fighting others (it is believed that he suffers from dissociative identity disorder). Even if you consider that his powers come from the moon god, his powers depend on lunar cycles.
But at least he has a cool costume! Portions of his suit are made from adamantium (also known as Wolverine’s claws) and have a huge cloak that helps him fall from great heights in style.
The show comes from Jeremy Slater. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Slater was hired to develop and lead the writing team for the new series. Slater is behind Netflix’s comic book adaptation of The Umbrella Academy. He was also the co-author of the 2015 Fantastic Four.
It is unclear when the show will debut. Moon Knight is expected to appear at the end of Phase 4, which has already been pushed back due to production delays due to the coronavirus pandemic. No start date has been set for the production of Moon Knight.
We also don’t know who else (if at all) it affects. Given that the name “Moon” is correct in its title, the series could easily link up with other MCU films that are not set on Earth, like Guardians of the Galaxy or even Thor: Love and Thunder. We just have to wait and see.
Marvel has been trying to make a Moon Knight movie or TV series for years. Back in 2006, Marvel discussed bringing Moon Knight to the small screen with a series before the MCU was even a thing. However, that failed. James Gunn, the Guardian of the Galaxy director, then discussed that he had once made a Moon Knight film, but it never came about.
