Mitski pronounces graphic novel soundtrack

Mitski teamed up with Z2 Comics to create the soundtrack for a new graphic novel. She makes music to accompany writer Chris Miskiewicz and artist Vincent Kings’ upcoming book This Is Where We Fall. A softcover edition of the novel will be widely available in March 2021. The hardcover edition is also available this month on the Z2 website. Mitski’s original score will be available on vinyl and cassette at Z2.

“It was exciting to make a soundtrack for a comic book,” Mitski said in a press release. “It allowed me to work outside of my usual songwriting form and try to approach it like a score, but without the cues that come with working with a moving image, which was both liberating and challenging. I hope the end result helps you dive into history! “

Josh Frankel, editor of Z2, added, “A project and partnership like this is the perfect marriage of a visual art form like comics and music. Fans of Mitski’s music not only get something new from one of their favorite artists, but also an accompaniment piece that completes the experience. Comic book readers will find an original science fiction work by top creators, which is complemented by the accompanying music. “

Mitski released her latest studio album Be The Cowboy in 2018. Earlier this year she shared a new song called “Cop Car” and jumped on Allie X’s track “Susie Save Your Love”. Visit Pitchfork’s “Don’t Cry for Mitski” profile.
