– DiscussingFilm (@DiscussingFilm) February 15, 2021 “I’m a zombie fan. I’ve been trying to get on Walking Dead for years. I said I’d come and play a zombie for free, but they said, ‘You’re too big ! ‘”And with Snyder’s genre mash-up – promising horrors, action, and heists – he found something that stood out in the long-established genre. “For me, a zombie movie had to be special to be able to register. What sets us apart is the robbery. But this film has a number of different levels.”
Based on its size, Dave Bautista would have undoubtedly made one of the scariest zombies in The Walking Dead history, and it’s a shame that never got on screen, especially given his willingness to show up. After all, the actor finally gets his wish and joins the genre of the zombie apocalypse, having previously referred to the “layers” in Army of the Dead that he’s so keen on. “I said I wasn’t interested. I had this chip on my shoulder and was looking for juicy [dramatic roles]”Said Bautista last month when explaining why he turned down a role in James Gunn’s” The Suicide Squad “for the lead role in” Army of the Dead. ” Then I read the script and it was a lot deeper and had more layers than I thought. And to be completely honest, I wanted to work with Zack too. “
Army of the Dead follows a group of mercenaries who raid a Las Vegas casino during a zombie outbreak. “It’s a full-blown zombie heist movie that’s a genre,” says Snyder of the upcoming Netflix project. “So you expect pure zombie chaos and you get 100 percent of that. But you too get these really amazing characters on a fantastic journey. It will surprise people that these great characters have a lot of warmth and real emotions.”
Directed by Zack Snyder based on a script he wrote with Shay Hatten and Joby Harold, Army of the Dead plays an ensemble directed by Dave Bautista (Guardians of the Galaxy). In addition to the action star, the cast of the Army of the Dead include Ella Purnell (Kick-Ass 2), Omari Hardwick (Kick-Ass), Theo Rossi (Luke Cage), Ana De La Reguera (Narcos) and Huma Qureshi (Gangs) von Wasseypur), Hiroyuki Sanada (Avengers: Endgame), Garret Dillahunt (Fear the Walking Dead), Raúl Castillo (Looking), Nora Arnezeder (Mozart in the Jungle), Matthias Schweighöfer (The Beautiful Day), Samantha Win (Wonder Woman)) and Rich Cetrone (Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice).
Army of the Dead is due to be released later this year. A recent rumor has it that it could hit Netflix in May. That comes to us from the Empire.
