New, unmapped movie photographs present Nathan Drake discovering the important thing to journey

New images from the expected video game customization Uncharted tease Nathan Drake’s first big screen adventure. The project has been in development for several years and is about to open in theaters. Tom Holland stars in Uncharted as Nathan Drake and Mark Wahlberg as mentor Victor Sullivan along with a supporting cast that includes Antonio Banderas, Sophia Taylor Ali and Tati Gabrielle. Wahlberg originally starred as Drake in the film adaptation, but development took much longer than expected, so Holland was brought on board.

Fans are waiting for the Uncharted trailer, but the first official footage will likely take a little longer. For now, a few new pictures have to be enough. One of the new pictures shows a gold cross. In another image, the cross actually appears to be a secret key, though it’s unclear what it will reveal when the film hits theaters. Elsewhere, an old statue with cobwebs and an old world map is shown.

Uncharted will focus on a younger Nathan Drake who is different from what fans are used to in video games. The film is believed to open a franchise with Tom Holland starring in all of the episodes, though that largely depends on how well it performs on its final release. Sony first announced its intention to bring the video game franchise to the silver screen in 2008. So fans have been waiting a long time to see Drake on screen.

Following the announcement of the Uncharted movie in 2008, some writers and directors signed up and later left the project. During this time there were several script rewritings that later turned into something completely different. Holland was occupied in 2017 and Ruben Fleischer came in 2019 to direct the film based on a script by Art Marcum and Matt Holloway. Production began in March 2020 but was quickly stopped due to the public health crisis. At the time, many fans believed that the Uncharted movie was cursed and should never hit theaters.

After production was discontinued in March, the Uncharted film started again in July. This time they were able to finish the main photography before Tom Holland had to go to Spider-Man 3. As of this writing, Uncharted is still on its way to releasing pictures in Sony’s IMAX, RealD 3D and Dolby Cinema on July 16, 2021. With that said, anything can happen by then, and a delay wouldn’t be surprising at all.
