Opinions: American Idol, The Equalizer Lead Sunday; Batwoman goes low


In the latest TV show ratings, ABC’s American Idol opened season 19 with 6.7 million viewers and a rating of 1.1, which is just a tad lower from its previous averages (6.9 mil / 1.2) and the leading Sunday in the demo; Read the summary.

As a result, The Rookie (3.9 mil / 0.6, read post mortem) returned to season highs.


CBS | The equalizer’s regular time slot debut drew 8 mils and 0.9 mils, which narrowed the second largest audience on Sunday (after 9.1 mils from 60 minutes) and finished second behind Idol in the demo. Now, an hour later, NCIS was on: Los Angeles (5.9 mil / 0.7) and New Orleans (4.9 mil / 0.5) were stable.

THE CW | Batwoman (507K / 0.1) slipped to hit the series’ lows. Charmed (371K / 0.1) reached its own audience low while staying stable in the demo.

NBC | The Grand Ole Opry Special averaged 2.8 mil / 0.3.

FOX | The Daytona 500’s delayed rain coverage averaged 3.4 mils and 0.7 mils.
