Pedro Pascal stars in The Final of Us online game adaptation on HBO
The Last of Us fans, meet your Joel.
Pedro Pascal will play the main character in HBO’s adaptation of the popular video game, our sister site Deadline reports.
Two decades after today’s society’s implosion, The Last of Us will follow Joel, a tough survivor hired to smuggle a 14-year-old girl named Ellie out of an “oppressive” quarantine area. “What starts as a small job soon turns into a brutal, heartbreaking journey as both cross the US and have to depend on each other to survive.”
Bella Ramsey (Game of Thrones, Its Dark Materials) will play Ellie in the drama directed by Craig Mazin, Executive Producer of Chernobyl. Neil Druckmann, the game’s writer and creative director, will also write and executive produce the series.
But what does Pascal’s casting mean for The Mandalorian, the Disney + series in which he plays the title role? At the deadline there is the potential for the actor to be part of both shows – but The Last of Us takes precedence.
Pascal’s TV work not only plays the title Dyn Jarren in The Mandalorian, but also includes Game of Thrones, Narcos, The Mentalist, and Graceland. He recently appeared in the 1984 feature film Wonder Woman.
