Speaking Heads, Salt-N-Pepa, Selena, Extra Get Grammys For Lifetime Achievement

The Recording Academy announced their 2021 Special Merit Awards. Lifetime Achievement Awards received: Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five, the late jazz musician Lionel Hampton, opera singer Marilyn Horne, Salt-N-Pepa, Selena and Talking Heads. In addition, Ed Cherney, Benny Golson and Kenny “Babyface” receive Edmonds Trustees Awards, while Daniel Weiss is recognized as a recipient of the Technical Grammy Award.

At the 2020 Grammys, Bonnie Raitt played Angel From Montgomery to celebrate John Prine’s Lifetime Achievement Award.
