The Grey Man Will Begin Netflix Franchise; Taking pictures date introduced

One of the films I’m most looking forward to in the years to come is Joe and Anthony RussoBig budget spy film T.he gray man With Ryan Gosling and Chris Evans. When the Netflix movie was first announced, reports suggested that the streamer signed up in hopes the project would spark a franchise, and the Russo Brothers confirmed that was the plan during a CCXP hosted by Collider’s -Panels was Steve Weintraub.

The filmmakers behind it Avengers: Endgame and Captain America: Civil War I’ve talked about some new and upcoming projects at their AGBO production banner factories, but it was their thoughts on The Gray Man that got my ears racing.

The action thriller follows a former CIA agent turned freelance assassin named Court Gentry, also known as the Gray Man. Gosling will play Gentry, who is being hunted around the world by his former CIA cohort, Lloyd Hansen (Evans).

“What we do with Gray Man is different [is]… We won’t answer every question in the first film, “explained Joe Russo.” This is conceived as a series of films and we could, possibly branched, follow other characters, but we won’t answer every question in the film. So will you finish the movie [and] I have a full story, but you will still have questions about the wider universe. And I think that’s a way to break the model a bit by not giving the audience everything in a movie. I don’t have a tight narrative. Have an open narration that is [like] a chapter in a book. ”

“”[We’re] Guys who grew up on a solid diet of action thrillers. The cast is exceptional, the script is excellent, “boasted Joe Russo, who also revealed that he and his brother are only six weeks away from filming The Gray Man.” We’ll start shooting here in Los Angeles at the end of January and then we’ll have some overseas work in Europe in the spring. ”

The Russians plan to shoot the film on location around the world, as The Gray Man is supposed to feel massive and on par with Netflix’s most expensive films.

“We have an amazing team and Netflix has been very supportive. [COVID] didn’t affect our shooting, “said Joe Russo.” This is a great global spy thriller. Its intention is that it will hit a lot of different places and we will still be filming in those places. We are very excited about this because it is really important for storytelling that we visit these different places. ”

What should MCU fans expect from this latest entry in the spy genre that stars a two-time Oscar nominee in Gosling and the star of the top grossing movie of all time in Avengers: Endgame hero Evans?

“Gray Man is a spy film. For fans of The winter soldier‘The Gray Man is similar in the sense that we are trying to embed it in a very modern, contemporary environment that we are faced with on a global scale in relation to spy networks and [the] CIA, “explained Anthony Russo, who described Evans’ character as the main antagonist.” It will be fun to see Chris in the opposite role of Captain America. ”

Anthony Russo also promised that The Gray Man will provide social commentary alongside some epic action sequences.

“We’re just trying to be very timely when it comes to talking to topics that we believe are fueling global fear right now. Like Joe said, how can you turn really relevant topics into a really exciting, exciting one Make topic? ” Genre package? For fans of the action and spy genres, it will really deliver that to a large extent. But at the same time there are many complex social problems that are developing right now. ”

Although the Russians and their AGBO partners are thinking of franchises, as Netflix hoped when the company tackled this package, it’s possible the siblings will have to hand the reins of potential Gray Man sequels to other directors, depending on their permanent cast Appointments.

“It could be other filmmakers,” said Joe Russo of all sequels. “I mean, we love it, we love what we’ve prepared, we love the cast, but we’d love to tell multiple stories and depending on the schedule.” We may not be able to handle everything. That’s why we like to bring in new voices and are happy about that. ”

Indeed, the Russians typed Sam Hargrave to steer Chris HemsworthNetflix hit extractionwhile Brian Kirk directed the Chadwick Boseman thriller 21 bridges.

“We love to produce as much as we like to direct because we love to be inspired and surprised by other filmmakers. We like to work together because Anthony and I have done it all our lives, so we’re not afraid to work together,” said Joe.

There’s no word on a release date for The Gray Man, but we’ll keep this project updated for you, especially if more auditions are expected in the coming weeks. More information from the Russians’ CCXP panel, including some news on Extraction’s continuation, Click here.
