The haves and the have nots finish with the again half of season eight on OWN
After eight seasons of murder and chaos, blackmail and bats – not crazy – The Haves and the Have Nots come to an end. If Tyler Perry’s OWN primetime soap returns for the back half of season eight in May, those eight episodes will be the last in the series, our sister site Deadline reported on Tuesday.
“The Haves and the Have Nots was the first script-drama we aired on OWN,” noted Oprah Winfrey, “and to say that it started from the day it blew up is one Understatement.” It is all thanks to the creativity and very vivid imagination of one man, a man I refer to as my ‘big little brother’ Tyler Perry.
“Thank you Tyler, the incredible cast, the tireless crew, and every single viewer who watched with bated breath every week and tweeted with us for the past eight years,” she concluded. “I’ll be watching alongside all of you this final season.”
The drama is loosely based on Perry’s 2011 play of the same name and has been recording the life, love and perhaps especially the hate of the filthy Cryer and Harrington families and the young Young clan since 2013. To this day, mixed star Tika Sumpter has been cast as “reformed” bad girl Candace Young, who has spent most of the current season in a fancy hotel room longing for the handsome elected president.
We can only hope that in the final episodes of The Haves and the Have Nots, Angela Robinson’s queen of meanness, Veronica Harrington – a malevolence so apologetically mean and homophobic that her gay son was induced to have her implanted prick what she has long brought to herself. Ideally from her long-suffering ex Peter Parros’ David. But we are not picky.
The mid-season finale will air at 8/7 tonight.
