The Inexperienced Lantern HBO Max sequence appears like a film however is written like a TV present

Green Lantern fans may know Marc Guggenheim as one of the creative voices behind the live-action Green Lantern movie starring Ryan Reynolds. Now Guggenheim is getting another crack on the property. Guggenheim will appear alongside Seth Grahame-Smith as executive producer and writer on the upcoming live-action TV series Green Lantern for HBO Max. During a virtual panel for the one-day mini-conference at Comic-Con International, Guggenheim explained his approach to the series.

“I happen to believe – and this is not a common belief – that you can’t do a ten hour show or an eight episode show like an eight hour movie. I don’t think that works. When I see it’s done, there is there always are some limp episodes in the middle. I think you have to approach it like a TV series and approach each episode like its own entity. Even if it’s streaming, although hopefully people binge it, you ‘I have to do every episode too make a satisfying meal. ”

“You have to look at it at a different pace than you would in a two-hour movie. That being said, we’re approaching the show for HBO Max that we’re all working on with the production ambitions so we’re writing it like a TV show, but we hope so how to produce a movie. ”

After the mixed reaction to the Green Lantern movie Marc Guggenheim found greater success with other DC properties when boarding CW’s Arrow and Legends of Tomorrow as a showrunner. Lantern fans should rest assured that the upcoming series will be better than the movie, especially since Ryan Reynolds had previously revealed that the reason the movie didn’t do well was because of the messed up production process rather than a single creative pro on the project

“”[On Green Lantern] We didn’t have a working script until we were halfway through the shoot. That’s a handicap, there’s nothing you can do about it. And that’s often just the nature of this business. It’s a poster and a release date first. Start filming and we’ll figure the rest out when we leave. And it’s just crazy. It’s hard for everyone. Everyone who worked on this film gave their last drop of blood. ”

Little is known about the Green Lantern series at the moment other than that it will focus on multiple Green Lantern ring wearers instead of focusing on one hero. Guy Gardner, Jessica Cruz, Simon Baz and Alan Scott are said to appear in the series along with extraterrestrial characters like Sinestro and Kilowog.

One name prominently missing from the cast is Hal Jordan, played by Reynolds in the film Green Lantern. This has led some fans to speculate that DC is preparing to take another shot at a solo Hal Jordan film. Hopefully, the Emerald Knights of the DC Universe will soon take their rightful place as a large franchise spanning both shows and movies.
