The King’s Man was delayed till the autumn when Bob’s Burgers movie was pulled from Disney Slate

Disney is following in the footsteps of MGM, Universal and Sony and is delaying its release in the first quarter. The King’s Man, Ron’s Gone Wrong, Antlers, and more have been delayed while the highly anticipated Bob’s Burgers movie has completely canceled its release. Whether or not Marvel Studios’ upcoming Black Widow movie is delayed has yet to be confirmed. However, Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige says this is a real possibility.

Bob’s burger was originally supposed to open in theaters in April but no longer has a release date. It’s unclear whether Disney will announce a new date or whether the film will move straight to streaming instead. The King’s Man (20th) was previously scheduled for release on March 12th and is now moving to August 20th. The film was originally scheduled to open on November 15, 2019, but was first postponed to February 14, 2020. It was then postponed to September 18, 2020 before being released in February 2021. Hopefully the August date remains.

Ron’s Gone Wrong (20th) was previously supposed to open on April 23rd and will now switch to October 22nd. The animated film is about an 11 year old boy who finds that his robot buddy is not quite working. The night house (Searchlight) is now dated July 16th. The horror thriller is directed by David Bruckner based on a script by Ben Collins and Luke Piotrowski. It features Rebecca Hall, Sarah Goldberg, Stacy Martin, Evan Jonigkeit and Vondie Curtis-Hall. Tammy Faye’s eyes (searchlight) will now open in limited theaters on September 24, while the long-delayed Antlers (searchlight) is now dated October 29th. Guillermo del Toro’s Nightmare Alley opens on December 3rd.

Raya and the Last Dragon will premiere as a Disney + Premium purchase on March 5th, which they did with the live-action film Mulan in 2020. As of this writing, Marvel’s Black Widow will remain on May 7th, although that is likely to change. Free Guy is still scheduled for May 21st, while Cruella is still on May 28th. Pixar’s Luca is slated to hit theaters on June 18, and Marvel’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings are slated to stay on July 9. Jungle Cruise is still for July 30th.

In terms of these release dates, a lot is likely to change over the next few weeks. Over 60% of North American cinemas remain closed with no end in sight thanks to the public health crisis. With this in mind, President Joe Biden is aiming for 100 million vaccinations in 100 days. The new president’s goal is high, but he and his team seem confident they can achieve it and bring the country back to some sort of normalcy in the coming months. Walt Disney Studios were the first to announce the new release dates for the first quarter.
