The Sandman Netflix series teaser video previews the Neil Gaiman adaptation

‘The Sandman’ has been in various stages of development since the early 1990s.

For Netflix’s Geeked Week, the streamer gets a first look at his adaptation of. divided Neil Gaiman‘s The Sandman, with the writer and several members of the cast discussing their involvement in the project – plus some teasing about the beautiful sets, props, and concept art. The adaptation tells the story of Dream, the king of stories, who is captured in an occult ritual. After 105 years in captivity, Dream escapes to restore the dreaming kingdom.

The Sandman has had several failed adaptation attempts since the 1990s, but with the start of filming in late 2020, Gaiman’s work is finally getting a live-action rendition. The Sandman was originally intended to be made into a film in 1991, but that film was never made. There were also plans for plans Joseph Gordon-Levitt to star in another film series, but the plans for it also failed.
